La Myrle Thomas passed from this life May 1, 2018 at the age of 80. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, as well as a great friend to those who were privileged to know her. Her greatest joy was working with the mentally and physically challenged. She worked at Lufkin State School and at Burke Center until she retired. She was a faithful member of Thomas Crossing Pentecostal church.
She is preceded in death by her:
- parents
- granddaughter, Cierra Strait
- husbands, Earl Strait and Edgar Thomas
- sons-in-law, Michael Hancock and Robert Boyd
Those left to remember her are: son and daughter-in-law, Randal and Martha Ward; daughters, La Nona Boyd, Dana Strait, Charlotte Hancock, and Stacy Sims; 4 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Page; 2 nephews and spouses; and her most cherished friend, Darlene Self.
Funeral services will be held May 4, 2018 at the Etoile Pentecost Church on Hwy. 103 in Etoile. Interment will follow in the Attoyac Cemetery, San Augustine County.
