Mr. John Marcus Deaton, age 76 of Taylorsville passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 with his family by his side.

Mr. Deaton was born October 8, 1940 in Taylorsville, son of the late Joel Franklin Deaton and the late Mildred Harris Deaton. He was an active member of the Silver Creek Church of God and retired from Shaw Industries in 1997 with 27 years of service. He had a great love for family, cars and music.

Survivors include two sons, James Marcus Deaton of Rome and Dr. John Franklin Deaton and his wife Pamela of Kennesaw and their mother, Sherry Ann Bowling Deaton; sister, Sue Stiles of Augusta; brother, Joel Harris Deaton of Rome; and two grandchildren, Brandon Deaton and Cody Deaton also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Deaton will be held on Sunday, November 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: John Deaton, Billy Pegg, Michael Pegg, Brandon Deaton, Cody Deaton and Terry Surratt.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m.
