Terry L. Cole, Sr., 67, of rural Shirley, passed away at 6:15 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at his home.
His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with Rev. Ray Owens officiating. Burial will be in Lyman Township Cemetery, Roberts. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be determined.
Terry was born September 1, 1950 in Roberts, IL, the son of Charles and Lois Madden Cole. He married Jeanette Dodson on December 21, 1971 in Bloomington. She survives.
He is also survived by three children, Teresa (Clint) Valentine of McLean, Tony Cole and Tammy Cole, both of Bloomington; his mother, Lois Cole of Roberts; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, Larry (Cheri) Cole of Roberts; his father-in-law, Floyd Dodson of LeRoy and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son, Terry L. Cole, Jr., his mother-in-law, Kathryn Cochran and two nephews, Joey Garrett and Chad Cole.
Terry graduated from Roberts Thawville High School and attended Parkland College. He worked for Davis Firestone and later owned and operated Cole Automotive in Bloomington for 15 years. He also farmed. Terry was an avid car enthusiast, was a member of the Mustang Club and enjoyed camping. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
