Richfield Reaper, The (UT) - Wednesday, March 2, 2016
SALINA — Maureen Zita Hill, 83, took her final Jazzy ride Feb. 21, 2016, in Provo.

Maureen was born July 28, 1932, in Los Angeles, to Robert and Doris O'Rourke.

Maureen married Rex Sampson and together they had eight children, two of whom died at birth. They later divorced and he preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1984.

She married Warren Albert Hill, who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1987.

Maureen grew up on a chicken farm in Salina, as an only child with her mother and stepfather, Levar "Toto" Anderson. She never met a stranger and spent the majority of her adult life traveling around the United States and overseas. She was an excellent chef and expert seamstress. The dolls she made will live on forever.

Maureen leaves behind her children: Thomas Rex (Kim) Sampson, Tehachapi, Calif.; Daniel James (Regielonia) Sampson, Los Angeles; Jenni Lee (Rick) Stanley, Salt Lake City; Donald Paul (Sherri) Sampson, Salina; Mitchell Lynn (Lan) Sampson, Vietnam. Her posterity also includes numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a son, Glen Levar Sampson.

Maureen selflessly donated her body to the Body Donor Program at the University of Utah. A memorial service is held annually, the Friday before Memorial Day, at 11 a.m., at the Donor Gravesite in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. The next service is scheduled for May 27. All are invited to attend.

A Latin reminder of her purpose: Mortui vivos docent (the deceased teach the living).

An additional memorial service for family and friends will be scheduled later this year.
