Francis (Frank) J. Rogers, 64, died peacefully on April 28, 2018.

Son of the late Jane (Andrade) and John Rogers, he was educated in the Taunton School System. When Frank was a teenager he hoped to become a mechanic.

Unfortunately, Frank’s life changed suddenly, at the age of 17, in the early hours of January 1, 1970. As a passenger in a car that was involved in an automobile accident, Frank was thrown from the vehicle and suffered a head injury. He spent the next four months in a coma. When Frank came to, he found that the right side of his body was paralyzed.

However, with determination and the dedication of his mother, Frank was able to accomplish so much. He learned to walk with a cane, got his GED, got his driver’s license and led a full and active life. He worked as a clerk in Senator Ted Aleixo’s office, was active in this city’s Democratic Party, could often be seen at the polls on election day. He was a member of the PACC and Taunton’s YMCA, where he learned to swim as part of his therapy. Frank loved to fish and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Frank leaves behind his siblings, Ann Sauerbier of Taunton, William Hathaway and his wife Bonnie of Dighton, Steven Rogers and his wife Lori of Taunton, and Matt Tavares and his wife Celia of Carlisle; a sister in law Cynthia Hathaway of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Frank was also brother to the late Jean Spangler, and Manuel Hathaway.

Family and friends are invited to funeral services Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 10:00, in the Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Rt 138), Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11am, in the Holy Family Church, 372 Middleboro Ave, East Taunton.
