It is with love and a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved father, Henry T. Jordan III (Tommy). Dad went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 30, 2018 after his fight with Lung Cancer. Tom was born on July 4, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was a born firecracker with a spirited personality coming from a long line of Jordan’s.

Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry T. Jordan Jr. and Catherine Jordan; his uncle and aunt, James E. Jordan and Claudia S. Towry Jordan; his grandfathers and grandmothers, Henry T. Jordan Sr. and Alice Mae Jordan, Dewey and Elizabeth Keller and his uncle, Jack Keller.

Tom is survived by his son, James Thomas Jordan and wife Sherri; his daughter, Towry Lee Barnard and husband Adam; His “pride and joy”, four beautiful granddaughters, Madison, Emma, Tatum and Tindyl; sisters, Diana Jordan and Tina Slutzky and husband Elliot, Marie S. Jordan, the mother of his children and fiancé Dana Rogers.

Tom was so proud that he was able to live, raise his children and work in Midwest City, OK. He was a proud “Boomer”. While in highschool, he received several athletic awards, selected for the “All City Football Team, and wrestling State Champion. After graduation, he attended Cameron University on a football scholarship. Tom was successful in AAU Boxing.

In 1966, Tom entered the U.S. Army for 2 years where he served in the 101st & 82nd Airborne Ranger Infantry Division. He gained the rank of E4 Specialist and Airborne Ranger. After leaving the Army, Tom returned to his hometown to begin his career, the building business. Over 48 years, he built apartment buildings, developed sub-divisions (land development), residential homes and managed and owned Commercial and Residential Real Estate. He developed and built homes in Midwest City, Del City, Oklahoma City and Norman. He was an active member of the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association, a participant of the Parade of Homes, receiving awards throughout his building career. He also served on the Midwest City Building Advisory Board. Tom partnered with Harold Fallis in Ridgefield Sub-Division so that he would be able to build a training facility for his next adventure, horseracing.

He loved the animals themselves and the competitive climate it presented. Training Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, he raced and set track records at Trinity, Midway-Downs, Fair Meadows, and Remington Park. He won Leading Trainer in 1988 at Midway-Downs. One of Tom’s expertise was claiming horses that were slower and maybe a bit tired and treating them with care and helping them to be winners. He had favorite Jockeys at each racetrack, Roger Smith, Larry Taylor and Pat Steinber. He and his son, Jimmy, spent time loving this adventure together. His hometown friends and racing lovers supported and cheered his horses on to victory. Tom made sure that each of his horses received the best of care and training. With over 40 horses, it was quite an operation of hard work. His favorites changed regularly, but always loved Tip Tap, Sandy Cat, Society Duebe and Moon Bug-It. Ridgefield Farms also had many colts and fillies born there.

When it was time to relax, Tom would head to Lake Texoma. He loved boats and water. Sports fishing was always so much fun to him. Lake Texoma provided fun, friendship, and living the “Dock Life” with friends and family. He was a member of the Lake Texoma Boat Owners Association and an annual contributor to the Lake’s Fireworks displays.

Tom supported many sports programs for the YMCA and schools in Midwest City, including his softball team, Jordan homes, which played in the Del City Softball League. He had fun recruiting Seniors from Mid-Del High School that were already competitive in sports, spirit and his good friends. Their winning record took them to Louisiana for the National Men’s Softball Championship. Putting his cleets down, he focused on watching his children and their friends participate in sports and activities, coaching from the sidelines.

Tom also supported the Mid-Del Public School Foundation, the Rose State College Foundation, the Police and Firefighters of Midwest City, the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce and many anonymous gifts. He believed in supporting many politicians in his District and taught his children to always try and be aware of what was happening in the city, state and country so that they can speak out for what they believe in. He leaves a legacy to his children and grandchildren of great work ethics, honesty and love for family and life.
In his last years of life, he enjoyed traveling with his Fiance’ Dana Rogers to warmer climates relaxing and soaking in the sun. We are forever grateful for her support and care she provided to our father during his illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel in Midwest City on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
