Michael F. Laird, 68, of Oak St., Hudson, died Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018, at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice of Lenawee. He was born November 16, 1949, in Chicago, IL, to the late Edward and Florence (Beireis) Laird. He married Therese Elizabeth Doerr, on December 11, 1971, in Evergreen Park, IL. She survives.
Mike lived his early life in Chicago, where he graduated from Gage Park High School. He was previously employed at Rolled Alloys in Lambertville, MI, and more recently worked at KECY Metal Technologies in Hudson.
A car enthusiast, Mike followed NASCAR and NHRA drag racing, and was a member of the Hudson Kroozers. He enjoyed restoring old cars, and was talented in carpentry. He also enjoyed painting model car and train sets.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 46 years, Therese, are a son, Daniel (Brianna) Laird; two daughters, Amy Laird of Detroit and Melanie Laird of Adrian; a brother, Edward (Stephanie) Laird of Lisle, IL; a sister, Joan Aderman of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Adrien, Julien, and Ayla; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Akers.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 3-7 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
