Bessie Jane Reed Simmons, 77, of Easton, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at her home. Born Nov. 6, 1940, in Easton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Walter W. and Frances (Weaver) Reed. Bessie had been employed by Spring Garden Children's School for five years. She attended Easton High School. Bessie enjoyed taking care of her family and the neighborhood children, music, and dancing. She was a member of Greater Shiloh Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Kimberly Simmons Caleb (Nathaniel) of Coatesville, PA, Robin, Deirdre Simmons, and Leah Simmons-Butler of Easton, and a son, Robert Simmons III of Easton; three sisters, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her former husband, Robert Simmons Jr., two brothers, and three sisters.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Shiloh Chapel, 201 Brother Thomas Bright Ave., Easton. Call Thursday, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Hay's Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Easton.
