James Russell Trimble, age 92, departed this earth to his heavenly home on April 26, 2018. He was born in Rosemont, WV on March 19, 1926, a son of the late Troy and Rita (Yeager) Trimble. James is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nellie Saffel Trimble, whom he married on May 3, 1993.
James was preceded in death by his late wife Emma Kennedy Trimble, in addition to brothers Troy Trimble, Edward Trimble, and sisters Laura Domick and Helen Decker. He is survived by sisters Clarice Abrams of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Mary JoAnn of Meyers, CA.
James is also survived by his children: James Trimble and wife Nancy of Bedford, OH; Troy Trimble of OH; Marge Agnew and husband Loyal of Macedonia, OH; Barbara Osteterico of Newton Falls, OH; Margaret Larew and husband Ronnie; William Junior Saffel and wife Brenda; George Saffel, Delberta Mayle and husband Albert; and Sandra Austin and husband Barry all of Grafton, WV. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one of which preceded him in death, and many nieces and nephews.
James graduated from Flemington High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II, stationed in New Guinea. He served with pride on the USS Burleson (APA67). Upon his honorable discharge, he served an additional four years in the Naval Reserves. James also fulfilled his Bricklayers Apprenticeship Certification issued by the Ohio Apprenticeship Council on March 10, 1960. He was independently employed as a bricklayer where he restored historical homes and built many beautiful structures.
James loved preaching and sharing the word of God. He loved his family, friends, and opportunities to help others. James was an avid outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, and enjoyed watching Westerns. He also enjoyed the numerous opportunities that he had to travel and to share his experiences.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice and the special angels that cared for him.
Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington, WV, on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 3 until 7pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 10:30am. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown where full military honors will be accorded. The Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Trimble Family during this time.
