Kazimir was born in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. and moved to Canada with his parents when he was two years old. They moved to Lot 184 St. Mary's road where they made their living as market gardeners.
Kazimir (Casey) attended school in St. Germain, St. Norbert and the University of Manitoba, where he received a diploma in agriculture. Casey worked on the family farm for a while and then attended radio college in Toronto.
He was employed by the Hudson's Bay Company service department where he worked in television repairs. Casey and his friend Myron Zuk decided they would open their own service shop, Frontenac TV and then Frontenac TV and Furniture on Marion St. which they owned and operated for 19 years. During the operation of this company Casey decided to do some woodworking. They began to make their own TV stands and other items such as wine racks, spoon racks and lazy susans to name a few.
Frontenac TV was later dissolved and Casey continued with the woodworking until he was too ill to work.
Casey and Eleanore were married September 28, 1957, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Winnipeg. At the time of the marriage the family name was spelled Czop. This name was officially changed December 10, 1957 to Chopp. Casey built the family home at 525 Buckingham Road in Charleswood, it was completed in 1960.
This residence was home to Casey, Eleanore, Sharon, Shelley (b. 1958) Debbie (b. 1961) and Yvonne (b.1964) plus Ginger our dog. Eleanore's mother Elizabeth also lived with them for twenty years after the death of her husband John. Eleanore remained in the house until March of 2000 (Casey died in January 1986).
