Verda Blanche MacDonald, longtime resident of Rosewood Heights, passed away on April 27, 2018 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by Raymond, her beloved husband of more than fifty years, and by her sister Marie Bartels and brothers Earl, Ralph, and Lloyd Whitworth. Verda is survived by her sons James (late Victoria) and John (Jan), four grandsons, Matthew (Alissa), Marcus (Alisson), David, and Kevin (Ashley), and by eight great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of Ezra and Nellie Whitworth of Coffeen.

Verda and Raymond were long time active members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in East Alton. They were summer residents of Hayward, Wisconsin for many years and, throughout their lives together, Verda and Raymond enjoyed pinochle, dancing, and the outdoors.

Visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 12pm on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Willard Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the local family services organization, Community Hope Center, 1201 Hope Center Lane, Cottage Hills, Illinois 62018.
