Ronald "Ron" Robert Rasmussen
1942-2018
Ronald Robert Rasmussen (Ron), age 76, of Kuna, Idaho left this life on Saturday April 28, 2018 at 10:55 AM in his home with his loved ones after a hard fought battle with cancer and congestive heart disease. He was born on Friday March 13, 1942 at Sacred Heart General Hospital in Eugene, OR to a loving mother and father Nels Robert "Bob" and Lena Parker Frizell Rasmussen. The third of four children, He attended high school at Jefferson HS in Portland, OR and graduated from Hudson Bay HS in Vancouver, WA in 1961. After graduation Ron joined the Washington National Guard where he became a forward observer of Btry B 2nd BN 146th Arty in Vancouver, WA while attending school at Clarke College and Mount Hood Community College. In 1964 he married Jacqueline Lee Branch and they had a son Shon Thomas Rasmussen. That marraige ended and later in life he married Lucinda Faye Wray who brought three loving boys into Ron's life with Jon and Joseph Aasa and Jason Reusser who became his sons to the end. His daughter Jaimee Lynn Rasmussen soon followed. That marraige dissolved, but Ron was a loving father and cherished all the time he ever spent with his children. Early in his professional career he was an excellent salesman in many products. He gained a great love of bowling before ultimately gaining his PBA card. He later became the manager of Meridian Lanes in Meridian, ID. Ron changed careers and took up truck driving where he got his CDL certificate through Boise State University in 1991. He loved driving truck and did so until August of 2016. Ron was an excellent golfer, an amazing bowler, incredible at darts, love hunting and particularly fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest in the hills. All who knew him loved him as he was a life-long friend to many. He was quick witted and had a great love for life. Ron is survived by his son Shon Thomas (Julie) Rasmussen, Duaghter Jaimee Lynn (Cody) Culverwell, Jon Aasa, Joseph Aasa and Jason Reusser. Grandchildren Ryan (Allie) Rasmussen, Kiera (Chase) Pili, Miranda Rasmussen, Cheyanne Culverwell, Emilee Culverwell, Kaitlyn Aasa, Tyler Reusser, Allie Reusser, Austin Reusser and six great-grandchildren. Sisters Frances Marie Rasmussen and Carolyn Ree Rasmussen with many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Bob & Lena Rasmussen, Sister Phyllis. A public viewing for family and friends will be held at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service which will be conducted at the Cloverdale Funeral Home located at 1200 N Cloverdale Rd, Boise, ID 83713 on Saturday May 5th at 11:00 AM with the internment taking place at the Kuna Cemetery at 1:00 PM located at 1321 W Boise St, Kuna, ID 83634.
