Katherine Daman Garrett was born in Seattle on August 11, 1954. She grew up in Tacoma graduating from Wilson High School in 1972. Kathy attended the University of Washington, was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and graduated with Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1976. After graduating she worked for a year as a surgical nurse at St Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma. The great good fortune of her life was meeting her husband Bill in college. They were married a year after graduation. Their first home was in St. Louis where Bill attended medical school while Kathy worked as an operating room nurse. After Bill graduated they moved back to Seattle where Bill continued his medical training. Late in 1983 they moved to their home in Olympia.

Kathy died on June 9, 2014 of leiomyosarcoma, diagnosed in 2000. She was always grateful to have lived 14 years with a disease that was usually much less generous with its time. She would like to extend many thanks to her family and numerous friends for all their support, help, kindnesses, visits, and meals. Special thanks to Dr. Sheila and Gerald Fay, Dr. Jim Reus, Dr. Bill Beppu, Terry Kluh R.N. and all the staff and nurses at St. Peter.

Kathy is survived by her much loved husband Bill, daughter Mary Beth (Gabe), son Patrick (Helen), granddaughters Eleanor and Lucy, a grandson due in the Fall, mother Mary Daman, siblings Cindy Langlow, Debbie Cote, and Steve Daman, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father Donald E. Daman.
