Matthew F. Mulligan, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2018 at his home in Urbana, Maryland with his loved ones by his side. Matt was born in Pittsfield, MA on July 30th 1936 and was the son of the late James E. and Mary (Walsh) Mulligan and brother of James Mulligan.

Matt grew up in Pittsfield, MA where he was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. He later joined the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for 4 years. Following his military service, he joined General Electric where he worked for 31 years. This career brought him much joy and pride and was the source of excellent story-telling for years to come. His work with GE allowed him the opportunity to travel the world with his 'Buddy', Beverly Ann (Furey), his wife of over 56 years.

Matt will be remembered for his pride in his children (Kathy, Jim and Mike), his joy as a grandfather to Patrick, Dempsey, Morrissey, children of Kathy and Troy McHenry of Alpha, NJ; Griffin, Ronan and Aislinn Mulligan, children of Angie and Jim Mulligan of Urbana, MD and Coleman and Jack, children of Kimberly and Mike Mulligan of Lewisville, NC and as the devoted husband and caregiver to the love his life, Beverly. His primary goal after retirement from GE was making sure that she was happy, well taken care of, and loved.

Matt is also survived by his nephew, Matthew Mulligan and wife, Melanie of Urbana, MD and his niece, Gayle Green and husband, Randy of Salem, Oregon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday May 3rd 2018, at 12 Noon at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, MD 21754. Father Michael J. Jendrek will officiate. The interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Frederick. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice of Frederick County. Arrangements have been made by the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home of Frederick, MD.
