Mr Brown passed away Sunday morning June 15, 1930, at his home in Sandy Creek after several weeks' illness which he endured with fortitude and patience. He was born in 1853 in the town of Ellisburg, being the son of Allen and Julia Wilmington Brown. He belonged to a pioneer family, as his grandfather moved into Ellisburg while the forest was as yet unsubdued. His education was obtained in the public schools of his native town At the age of 17 he entered mercantile business, working in a store owed by a Mr Martin, in the village of Mannsville. In 1880 he became a resident of Sandy Creek when he accepted a clerkship in the establishment of the late Julius Robbins and son and later holding a similar position in the general store of the late Edward Williams. For 16 years he was assistant postmaster in Sandy Creek. The patrons found him considerate, faithful and try i the discharge of his duties. His first wife and only daughter Leah passed away several years ago. His second marriage to Miss STella Howe was solemnized August 1, 1926, who survives him. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs Emma Richards of Rochester, Mrs Carrie Lowrey of Belleville, Mrs L W Brown of Adams Center and Mrs Leon Gardner who with her husband are missionaries at Trinidad Islands: two brothers, D B Brown and N M Brown of Ellisburg. His funeral was from his home with Rev T T Davies officiating and burial in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery.
