Ernest “Ernie” F. Long, age 82, of Mountain Pine, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was born on January 6, 1936 in La Harpe, Illinois, the son of Arlie David Long and Reva Maye Carnes Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Betty Dunkin, Margaret Keane and Arlene Bane.

Ernest was Methodist in his faith, but most important to him, he was known as a Christian. He was a supervisor for Blackmon-Mooring CAT Restoration Company throughout the world and they participated in the cleanup of the World Trade Center in 2001. Ernie and his wife gardened together and sold their produce at the Farmers Market several days a week in the 7 North area. He was a self-employed painter and his wife joined him after she retired from banking, they painted houses in the Hot Springs Village and surrounding area. Ernie loved spending time with his family and traveling with them during the summers.

He is survived by his wife, one son and daughter-in-law, one daughter and son-in-law, one step-son and wife, two step-daughters, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, with two on the way; one brother, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs
