Janet Marie Walters

Stockton - Long-time Visalia resident, Janet Marie Walters passed away peacefully on April 4th in her residence in Stockton. She was born on May 30, 1923 in Wakefield, Massachusetts. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, where she met Carl W. Walters. They married right after the war and embarked upon a journey together which lasted 63 years, until Carl's death in 2009.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Anita Walters of Modesto, a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Christopher Scott of Linden, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Next to family , the most important thing in her life was her Catholic faith. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a strong supporter of George McCann School and the Bethlehem Center.

Friends and family will miss her wit and charm, her indomitable spirit, and her ability to make those in her world feel loved and valued.

There will be a graveside service on May 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Visalia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to George McCann School or the Bethlehem Center.
