Kathleen McClintock McCormick died April 15 in Sebastopol, Calif., after a short illness.

She was born April 5, 1947, in Cheyenne and she was the youngest child and only daughter of Archie G. and Jean McClintock.

Kathy had an extraordinary life as a modern dancer, choreographer and teacher. Her passion for dance began with classes with Elizabeth Tolerton. She left high school early so she could attend the University of Utah. Upon graduation, she became a member of the Repertory Dance Theater of Utah, as a dancer and choreographer. She spent a year studying at Julliard and taught at universities in the U.S. and abroad, including China, Cuba and Yugoslavia. She earned an MFA degree in Dance from Mills College, taught dance there from 1979-2006 and was head of the dance department for three years. Upon retirement, she was named professor emerita of dance.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael McCormick; brothers, Ellery (Sally) and Jeff; her niece, Laura (Chris) Hogan and their children, Sean, Ryan and Kate; and hundreds of friends and admirers.

A memorial service is planned this summer.
