Michael Joseph Keilty Sr. was born 10 OCT 1929 in Waterbury, CT. He was the son of Frederick Andrew Keilty and Sarah Bryan Keilty of Watertown, CT. Michael was the youngest of 17 children. His brothers and sisters were Sarah Alice, William Bryan, James Richard, Verna Ruth, Mortimer Michael, Bryan Thomas, Frederick Michael, Mary Jane, Vincent Joseph, Eugene William, Rose Joan, John Richard, Virginia Ann, Thomas Robert, and Ruth Ann Keilty. Michael graduated from Watertown High School in 1947, before going to work for the Oakville Pin Company in September 1947. He married Martha Cecilia Maloney, the daughter of Augustin J. Maloney and Cecilia Elizabeth Hoyt Maloney, on 02 Jul 1949 in Waterbury. Martha and Michael were married by the Reverend Thomas Ouinan at St. Michael's Church, 1434 Thomaston Ave. Michael was 19 and in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 1 year and 5 months before being honorably discharged. Martha was 17 and had just graduated from Thomaston High School. Children of Michael and Martha are Peter Michael, Michael Joseph Jr., Cecilia Ann, Martha Ruth and Mark Bryan Keilty. Following Martha's death in 1955, Michael married Margaret Lee on 27 SEP 1961 in Manhattan, New York. Margaret was the daughter of Emmett Bernard Lee, Sr. and Eleanor Margaret Still. Margaret had two children by previous marriages, Patricia Quaka, and Brian Kalay. Children of Michael and Margaret are Christopher Michael and Margaret Mary Keilty. He worked in the dry cleaning profession in Connecticut and later in Florida. Michael died 12 OCT 1998 at the age of 68 in Atlantis and is inurned at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery located at 10941 Southern Boulevard in Royal Palm Beach. In Michael's obituary, it is mentioned that he attended St. Thomas Seminary. This is incorrect per his sister, Rose Keilty Sutter, and his brother, Thomas Keilty. He did not attend Seminary, and went to work for Oakville Pin.

LANTANA, Fla. - Michael J. Keilty, 69, of 4090 Fifth Ave., formerly of Watertown, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 12, at his home. He was the husband of Margaret Lee Keilty and the widower of Martha Maloney.
Mr. Keilty was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Watertown, son of the late Frederick A. and Sarah (Bryan) Keilty. He was raised in Watertown and attended St. Thomas Seminary.
He was a graduate of Watertown High School and member of the basketball and baseball teams. He was a Navy veteran serving with the submarine fleet in New London.
After the Navy, he worked as a dry cleaner in Waterbury for many years and continued in the dry cleaning profession in Florida. He was a Canaan resident, moving to Florida a few years ago.
Besides his wife of 37 years, he leaves nine children, Peter Keilty of Nashua, NH, Michael Keilty of Clearwater, FL, Cecilia Bishop of West Palm Beach, FL, Martha Maroney of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Mark Keilty of Houston, TX, Patricia Portmann of Lakemore, OH, Brian Kalay of Torrington, Christopher Keilty of Royal Palm Beach, FL and Margaret Berry of Davenport, IA; three brothers, John Keilty of Watertown, Richard Keilty of New Port Richey, FL, and Thomas Keilty of Glendora, CA; two sisters, Verna Rowe of Largo, FL and Rose Sutter of Burlington, VT and 12 grandchildren.
Arrangements: Memorial Mass at 9 a.m. Nov. 21, at St. John's Church, Watertown. Funeral and interment were held in Florida. Arrangements by Babioni-Stephenson Funeral Home, Lantana, FL.
