Delmar was the son of Fred and Nellie Reed Massie and the husband of Doris Jean Massie. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger E. Massie. Delmar leaves behind his wife and one son; Terry Massie and his wife Susie of Charlotte, NC, one daughter; Teresa Miller and her husband Bill of Ona, WV., five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Delmar was a Veteran of World War II, serving in Okinawa. He was a former employee of Gould Battery, Commercial Lovelace, and Cook Motor Lines. He is also the former owner of Bowincal' s Restaurant in Huntington.

Delmar also served on the Board of Directors for the Huntington City Mission and he is a member of Minerva Lodge #13 in Barboursville where he is a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Z. Warner United Methodist Church, but attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He held many offices at Z. Warner where he was Chairman of the Board and a trustee for many years
