Kari Sue Brooks, 44, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018. She was born May 15, 1973 in Granite City, Illinois. Kari enjoyed her growing up years with cousins and family at her grandparent’s home in Monette and also at her aunt and uncle’s dairy farm in Walcott. Kari loved animals, being outdoors and enjoying nature. She was a talented artist, wonderful cook and a caring, kind hearted person. Kari was a member of the Walcott Baptist Church.
She is survived by her father, William Brooks and his wife, Joanne; her half-sister, Tracy Sells and friends, Stan Jackson and Michael Akes; nieces and nephews, Kelly Jo Tucker, Michelle Werner and Aaron Huffman and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Riggs Hobbs; a sister, Beverly Huffman; a brother, Otis Huffman Jr. and grandparents, Ardell and Bernita Brooks, Beaurell and Ruth Riggs.
A celebration of her life will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Walcott Baptist Church with Rev. Wilburn Griggs officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Walcott under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until time of service Wednesday at the church.
