Aileen Emily Bench Green Poulsen passed away on April 27, 2018 from old age.

Born July 31, 1924 in Van Nuys, California to Wesley Merrit and Francis Aileen Bench. Aileen grew up as an orphan, losing her father when she was a small baby and her mother that she adored at age eight. During the Depression, after her mother’s passing, she lived with her maternal grandparents on a farm in Kaysville. Later, she moved to Santa Monica, California to live with her Aunt Stella and Uncle Roy and eventually graduated from Santa Monica High

She spent her summers in Salt Lake visiting cousins and where she met Jack Green. They married in the fall of 1942; their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS temple in 1954. Jack and Aileen had four children (two sons and two daughters), fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Aileen Emily Bench Green Poulsen lived for seventeen years with dementia, but fortunately knew her loved ones who visited her often and could greet them by name. She was cared for at Sandy Rehab for the last ten years. Many of the aides and nurses there took good care of her and thought she was very sweet and kind and enjoyed caring for her.

Before Aileen developed this cruel disease of dementia, she lived at a place in Murray called Lake Pines. Grandchildren would love to visit her and one of their favorite activities was to go to the small lake and feed the ducks and go swimming at her pool. Grandma loved her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them one on one. Mom thought it was super fun to have her granddaughters over to paint their fingernails with her wide assortment of pink nail polish, do their makeup, and wear her high heels.

Aileen appreciated a clean and organized home for her family and in keeping it looking very stylish. This was very important to her. She was very well-dressed and wanted to have us children look well put together as well.

Aileen was Mrs. Utah in 1955 and competed in Florida in the Mrs. America pageant. To be able to compete in this pageant, she had to do various household chores such as iron, sew, cook, and clean.

She held various jobs and found she was excellent in sales which she enjoyed the most. As an example, she was the top salesperson for Avon in the state of Utah and held this title for several years.

She is survived by Diane (C. David) Quist, Brent (Karen) Green, Steve (Susan) Green, Sharlene Wardrop, fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Both husbands preceded her in death, along with two grandchildren, Tyson Wardrop and Brandie Caporelli.

There will be a viewing held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), Murray, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m.
Interment: Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street (735 East), Murray.
