Born June 18, 1938 in Slater, he was the son of the late Lowell W. "Jack" and Nettie Garrett Crane. On February 2, 1964 in Slater, he was married to his wife of 54 years, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving is a son, and his wife of Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter, and her husband of Slater; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother of Marshall; and a sister of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jaeger.
Bill was a member and Deacon of the Slater Christian Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge #63, A.F. & A.M. He had also served as a member of the Slater Ambulance Board. He retired in 1998 as a Conductor with the Kansas City Southern Railroad after 37 years of service.
