Obituary for Warren E Cochran
Warren E. Cochran, 95, of Herscher, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Harvest View Independent and Assisted living facility in Herscher.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Home and from 10 am Thursday, May 3, 2018 until the 11 am service at the Grand Prairie United Methodist Church located on Rte 17 West, Bonfield, IL. Pastor Mel Nielsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Eldridgeville Cemetery, near Cabery, IL.
Warren was born January 22, 1923 in Homestead, FL, a son of Warren Hansford and Effie (Webster) Cochran.
Warren married Beulah Clark on December 21, 1947 at the Buckingham United Methodist Church in Buckingham, IL. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2003.
Warren graduated from Pahokee High School in Florida and later enlisted in the Army where he served his country in World War II. He later moved to Illinois and farmed in the Herscher area for many years. After retiring from farming he worked for Hendrix Town and Country-Bin Division putting up many grain bins throughout the area. He was a member of the Grand Prairie United Methodist Church and a former member of the Buckingham United Methodist Church where he was very active and served on many committees. He was a member of the American Legion in Herscher and a Sexton for the Eldridgeville Cemetery for many years. Warren loved being behind his video camera, documenting events for his beloved family, as well as local community since 1951. Warren's faith in God and his deep love for his family were the most important things in his life.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Joyce) Cochran, of Bonfield, IL, Kevin Cochran of Herscher, IL, and one daughter, Bonnie Knutson (Gary Eskridge) of Bloomington, IL; four granddaughters, Tricia (Troy) Coffman of Kankakee, IL, Cheri (David) Dayton of Bonfield, IL, Kimberly (Britt) Barnard of Normal, IL and Jennifer Cochran of Bonfield, IL; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Coffman, Brianna Dayton, and Rebecca Coffman. Also surviving is one brother, Frank (Merelyne) Cochran of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and one sister, Ruth Connell of Monticello, FL; one Aunt, Margie Cochran, of White Pines, TN, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his infant son, Kent, brothers John and Claude Cochran, sisters, Eloise Unwin-Moore, and Lucille Cochran.
Memorials may be made to the Eldridgeville Cemetery Association or the Grand Prairie United Methodist Church.
