pub in the Baltimore, MD, Sun on Friday August 28, 1903 - EX-JUDGE GANS IS DEAD - Former Judge Daniel Gans of the Orphans' Court, who had been ill for several months, died at his home at 1419 Argyle avenue, at 11.20pm last night. The judge had been in failing health for some time. LONG ARTICLE - Recap of info : his son, Mr Edgar H. Gans, the well-known lawyer is now in Europe having gone there for the benefit of his health... will not return until Sept. Daniel Gans born near Waynesboro, PA in 1822. [more about his ancestors]. Daniel was 5th child [his education & training] Married twice, first to Miss Sarah Duncan...2 ch - only one surviving - Mary a Sister of Charity nun in Richmond, VA. 2nd m. to Miss Schwartz of Hagerstown, MD. She had 6 ch of whom 5(sic) are alive. ... the eldest is Edgar H. Gans of the Baltimore bar. NOTE: only 3 children named in her obit in 1904 and Edgar is not the oldest. ------------------------------------------pub in the Baltimore, MD, Sun on Sunday Aug 30, 1903 - GANS- on August 27, 1903, DANIEL, beloved husband of Margaret C. Gans. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence at 1419 Argyle ave, on Monday morning, thence to the Immaculate Conception Church, where a Solemn Requiem Mass will be said for the repose of his soul. -------------------------pub in the Baltimore, MD, Sun on Sep 1, 1903 - Long article about the funeral - who preached - his conversion of Catholicism - list of palllbearers - The interment was in Bonnie Brae Cemetery... And this: the Judge's wife was not present because of illness. Mrs Gans has been sick for some months and it is feared that the shock of her husband's death will prove fatal. NO list of children except for mention of son, Edgar H. Gans who was also Not present as he was in Europe for his health.
