David "Bill" William Sheppard, 76, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born July 25, 1941, in Washington, a son of the late John Forrest and Florence Davis Sheppard.

Mr. Sheppard was a 1961 graduate of McGuffey High School.

He retried from Jessop Steel in 1999 after serving 32 years. Following his retirement, he drove a bus for Strabane Woods for 17 years, where he enjoyed helping the elderly with shopping and entertainment.

He was a loving and caring man, father and husband who in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing and collecting guitars and drinking coffee at Eat 'n Park and The Dog House Diner. He had a love of music and motorcycles and was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed family gatherings and picnics.

He was a member of Moose Lodge, Washington, Fraternal Order of Eagles 4546 and Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.

Mr. Sheppard was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, Washington.

He served as a tank driver while stationed in Germany during his time with the U.S. Army.

On April 8, 1967, in Claysville, he married Patricia Wilson, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, David Ray (Kelly MacBeth) Sheppard of Washington; a daughter, Misty (Michael) Plants of Washington; four brothers, John (Donna) Sheppard of Washington, Ronald (Jeanette) Sheppard of Snohomish, Wash., Donald Sheppard of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Edward (Darlene) Sheppard of Prosperity; a sister, Twiliah (James) Hensel of West Alexander; seven grandchildren, Makenzie and Jordan Sheppard, Morgan and Alex MacBeth and Makayla, Mariah, and Michael D. Plants; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog, Codey.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Army and Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
