Paul Ellison, age 62, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer, at his home in Barron.
Paul was born December 8, 1955 to Vernon and Ethel Ellison of Barron. After graduating from Barron High School in 1974, Paul attended UW-Stout, majoring in art. He lived in Minneapolis and then Boston for several years. He later moved to Chicago and earned his bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Columbia College.
Paul managed a small art and gift shop in Chicago until 2007 when he moved back to Barron to help care for his aging mother and be closer to family. He was employed at Kwik Trip in Barron, where his kindness, intelligence and strong work ethic were appreciated by customers and co-workers alike. He will be deeply missed by his Kwik Trip “family.”
Paul was a kind, patient and caring brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed traveling, loved painting, drawing, reading, classic movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Paul is survived by his sisters, Jacqueline (Allen) Huset of Silver Bay, MN and Patrice Akenson of Barron, one niece and five nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Rick Akenson.
A memorial service for Paul will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Barron with Rev. Ron Mathews officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at the church before the service. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
