Mack was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he has served as usher, Assistant Young Boys Sunday School Teacher, and on the Building and Grounds Committee. He was employed by Bowaters Paper Mill - Hiwassee Land Co. for 30 years.
Mack was born December 22, 1933 in Murray County, the son of the late Roy and Odene Mosteller Nelson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Arena Nelson; a sister, Rama Nelson Ray; and a brother, Ray Nelson.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, June Elrod Nelson of the residence; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jerry Williams and Debbie and Terry Davis, all of Chatsworth; grand-daughter and spouse, Keisha and Jim Gordon of Cartersville, GA; grandsons and spouse, Jerad and Ashley Davis and Jacob Davis of Chatsworth, GA; great-granddaughter, Ella Gordon of Carterville; a sister, Marilyn McCraw of Cleveland, TN; a brother-in-law, Gary Ray of Fairplay, CO; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Susie Westmoreland.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mack will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Meyer officiating. He will be laid to rest at Holly Creek Cemetery by the side of his daughter.
