The youngest of three children she lost her father at the age of 4, Bernadette grew up on Memphis St in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. She was employed as a Long Lines telephone operator for AT&T at the Bourse building in Philadelphia where she met her husband. During WWII they were married in the chapel at Fort Benning Georgia and traveled with him until his deployment to the Pacific. Lived for several years in Drexel Hill Pa before moving to Broomall where she lived with her husband and son for most of her life.
