Janet M. Stone, 74 of Oak Harbor, OH passed away January 9, 2017 unexpectedly in her sleep at her home in Weslaco, TX. She was born April 11, 1942 in Fremont, OH to the late Harold and Mercedes (Hetrick) Buehler. On December 9, 1961 she married the love of her life Richard E. Stone who preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage on May 5, 2014. Janet and Rickard Lived and retired on a dairy farm in Oak Harbor. She was also an employee of the Benton- Carroll- Salem School district for many years. Following retirement, Janet and Richard became "Winter Texans" as they traveled to Texas to escape the Ohio winters, soak up the Texas sun, remain active, and work on their card game skills. Following Richards passing, she continued to go to Texas with her four-legged baby Sadie. She became a euchre champion, a bingo regular and a dominating force in her favorite game of Bag Toss.
Janet was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Over the years, she volunteered and was very active in the church's various women's organizations. She was probably best known for the helping of the "famous St. Paul Apple Festival cookies" and baking pies for the church's annual Pork Chop Barbecue. Janet's children and grandchildren were everything to her. She loved watching them grow and always was attending sporting events, graduations, and recently attending and planning to attend her grandchildren's weddings. She loved to quilt, knit and embroider dedicating years to making precious quilts for her daughter, daughter- in- laws, and granddaughters. These priceless gifts will forever be cherished.
