Mrs. Emma Deane Osteen Allen, age 90 of 817 Sardis Road, Union, widow of Claude Mills Allen passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Allen was born December 12, 1927 in Zirconia, NC a daughter of the late James Everette Osteen, Sr. and Della Mae Summey Osteen. She was a 1944 graduate of Flat Rock High School and grew up attending Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where her father was minister. She met her future husband, Claude, who was also a son of a Baptist minister that visited her father's church as a child. She served the church as a Song Leader and member of the Ladies Quartet as a teenager.

Mrs. Allen was active in the organization of Southside Fire Dept. having served in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and "Nana" to a lot of people in her life. Mrs. Allen was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Mrs. Allen was a kind and loving Mother who was always supportive of her family in all their endeavors. She was constantly reading with some of her favorites being historical narratives of American military, political and historical figures. She was well versed in current political events and loved good discussion of current events in our nation. She considered herself as one of the many "Adorable Deplorables" that stood for historical American values and principles.

Surviving are a daughter, Paula A. Moss and husband Gil of Laurens; three sons, Darwin Allen and wife Lynne, Martin Allen and wife Vickie, and Dean Allen and wife Julie all of Union; one sister, Joyce O. Whitmire of Zirconia, NC; one brother, Robert Osteen of Zirconia, NC; three grandchildren, Betsy Allen Henderson and husband Jonathan, Christopher Allen and wife Mandy, and Jennie Dean Allen; and one great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Allen.

Mrs. Allen was predeceased by six sisters: Mary Louise Osteen, Lorene Osteen, Ruby & Ruth Osteen (twins), Minnie Sue Osteen and two brothers: James Everette Osteen Jr., William Franklin Osteen.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn. Burial will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Callahan, Warren Harrison, Eddie Williams, Rusty Young, Christopher Allen, and Jonathan Henderson. The following are asked to be honorary escort, Roger and Judy Bailey, Phillip Bailey, Dudley and Hazel Adams, John and Joann Parris, and Wayne Owens.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
