Johnnie Max Leigh, 78, of Hamburg, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Mr. Leigh was a native and lifelong resident of Ashley County and a 1957 graduate of Hamburg High School. Mr. Leigh retired in 2002 after 42 years with Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill and he retired from the Hamburg Fire Department as Assistant Chief in 2001 after 27 years of volunteer service. He was a member of the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alpheus and Addine Swan Leigh; two brothers, Kenneth L. Leigh, Sr. and A.J. Leigh

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Elton officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kenny Leigh, Brian Leigh, Kenton Leigh, Mathew Leigh, Casey Riley, Johnny Pierce and Wayne Smith. Honorary pallbearers are the retired and active members of the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department.
