Gerald Don Nash was born in Houston, Texas July 5, 1940 to Henry Elbert and Eula Faye Casey Nash. Butch attended Marshall Junior High School and Houston Tech. He began working for Western Electric in the summer of 1961. Butch and Molly Ann Uloth were married on October 20, 1961. They were just 3 months shy of celebrating 56 years of marriage at the time of his death. Children born into this marriage are Kim Marie-1962, Pam Rene’-1963, and Lance Evan-1971.

Gerald was confirmed into membership at Calvary Lutheran Church in Northeast Houston in 1965. The family transferred membership to St Luke’s Lutheran Church where the girls were attending Lutheran Elementary North. In 1976, Molly convinced her husband to move the family back to her hometown of Katy, where they became members of Memorial Lutheran Church.

Butch was invited to join the Katy Volunteer Fire Department by a few of Molly’s high school friends, where he truly began to feel a part of the community. The years he spent in the department were precious memories for him and Molly who belonged to the Ladies’ Auxiliary.

He quickly found out how much fun high school football could be in a small town and became a diehard Katy Tiger Fan. He rarely missed a game until this past season when poor health prevented his attendance.

Western Electric became AT&T and then Lucent Technologies. He retired from Lucent in 1995, but worked contract in the same industry for a number of years. His favorite road trips were to Louisiana or Mississippi to play slots, until travel became too difficult. He enjoyed building stuff and woodworking. He proudly showed every visitor the king size bed, cedar chest, dining room table, mantle, etc. that he built for his home.

Butch was preceded in death by an infant brother, Lester Duane; his parents and 1 grandchild, Stephen Andrew DeBlanc. He is survived by his spouse and their family, including: Kim, her husband James Bali and her daughters Britni and Valen; Pam, her husband Victor Deblanc and their children Racheal, Victor, Jr., Nathan and Allison; Lance, his wife Heather, and their daughters Cherokee and Lakota; and 2 great grandsons Grayson and Elijah. He is also survived by his sister Dolores, her five children and their families.
