Cager Stewart and Nancy (Barker) Major. Wade was raised by his maternal grandparents, John and Ollie Barker.
Wade was a 1941 graduate of Martinsville High School. After high school Wade served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. After service Wade attended Northwestern University, Illinois State University and graduated with his bachelor's degree from Indiana University. Wade retired from Ford Motor Company where he was the administrator of the Ford Suggestion Program in Indianapolis. He was a life member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and member of American Legion Post #230.
