Fletta L (Griggs) Zerns, 80 died Wednesday April 25, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born January 2, 1938 in Randolph County, IN to Aubrey and Marguerite (Townsend) Griggs. Fletta was a 1956 Graduate of Riverdale High School and a 1959 Diploma Nursing Program Graduate of Parkview Methodist School of Nursing.

She was a registered Nurse for 50 years. She worked in a number of local Hospitals including Souder Hospital, DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Boulder Colorado Hospitals for a time and then came back to the area and retired from McCray Hospital. While at McCray Hospital she loved the work she did in the Samara Unit.

After her retirement she also worked for four years as a teacher's assistant at Creative Playschool in Auburn.

She married Eugene E. Zerns on April 3, 1960 in the St. Joe Church of Christ and he survives in Auburn.

She is also survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters, Todd E. (Annita) Zerns of Waterloo, Teri L (Von) Timmerman of Auburn, Jon A Zerns of Waterloo, Joel D (Tina) Zerns of Auburn and Heather S.M. (Mike) Sutton of Auburn; 19 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren;1 great great grandson; 4 brothers, Wetzel Griggs of Leo, Warren (Lucy) Griggs of St. Joe, Kevin (Jan) Griggs of Fort Wayne, David (Pam) Griggs of Auburn; 4 sisters, D. Katie Laux of St. Joe, Judy (Marty) Anspach of St. Joe, V. Sue (Bill) Mauller of Leo, Vicki Jean Miller of Grabill; a sister in law, Karen Griggs of Ashley and a sister and brother in law, Joan and Jack Alberts of Grandville, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, In Laws, Denny and Ruth Zerns, 3 brothers, Kerry Layne Griggs (her infant brother), Bob Griggs, Bill and Peg Griggs, Sister Lois and Marvin Stauffer and sister in law, Sandy Griggs.

Services will be 1 PM Saturday April 28, 2018 at the Auburn Church of Christ with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery in St. Joe. Calling is Friday from 2 to 7 PM at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church from 12 to 1 Saturday.

Preferred memorials are to Lake James Christian Camp And Retreat Center.
