Mary Ann Gaither Addison

Alexandria - Mary Ann Gaither Addison 73, relaxed into the arms of Jesus April 25, 2018, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Anderson, surrounded by her family. She was born to George and Lela (Hartwell) Gaither January 17, 1945 in Madison County, where she lived her whole life.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School and attended Anderson College. From the age of 14 until she left college to start a family, she sang with her big brothers Bill and Danny as the early Gaither Trio and was always "the little girl with the big voice."

Her fierce spirit and determination to live made her a fifteen-year cancer survivor and a force for encouragement to her two children and a wide circle of friends. Until a pulmonary illness literally took her breath away, Mary Ann sang solos and was a strong voice in the choir at the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Danny.

She is survived by her husband Donnie Addison; her brother Bill (Gloria) Gaither; her children David (Angela) James, and Becky (Scott) Gull; six grandchildren, Parker Daniel, Truman George, Taylor Marie, Allison Grace, Meskerem Onna, Jacobi Michael; step-children, Melissa (Chuck) Mayfield and Kevin (Leslie) Addison; six step-grandchildren, Kylie, Taylor, Saige, Madalyn, Grant and Ella; step great-grandson, Luke; and a nephew and three nieces.

Services will be Monday, April 30, 2018 at 1:00 in the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene 1401 South Harrison Street with Pastor Mark Diemer officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene as well after 12 Noon on Monday prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to honor Mary Ann's love of springtime, her favorite season, by wearing all the colors of spring at the visitation and the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene with envelopes available at the visitation and services.

Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria is honored to care for the Addison and Gaither families.
