The family will receive friends at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Friday, April 13, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Richard Norrisworth officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Phil was born in Cloquet, MN., the only child of Ronald and Leah Eldien. He graduated from the ROTC program at the University of Minnesota at Duluth in 1953, and was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Air Force. After receiving his wings as a navigator, he served tours of duty as a navigation instructor, as a navigator bombardier in B-47 and B-52 aircraft, and a tour of duty in gunships in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 after 21 years of service. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren and with his many prior colleagues and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Sally) Eldien; son, Kerry S. Eldien; daughters, Kathleen Marie Elliott and Lisa L. Eldien; grandchildren, Bryan Elliott, Courtney Elliott, Karie Ann Griffin and Lauren Griffin, all of the Bossier City area.
Honorary pallbearers will be Victor Hartzler, Jack Woodsen, Jerry Breaux, Jo Maupin, Ira Daulberg and Bryan Elliott.
