Sandra Kay McDonald of Scotland, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Sulphur, Louisiana at 9:00 pm in the loving arms of her only child, Michael A. McDonald.
A rosary and visitation will be held between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Owens and Brumley Funeral in Wichita Falls. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls with Rev. Jeff Poirot, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Scotland, Texas under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Sandra was born November 2, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa to Thomas E. and Marian Larsen Randall. She attended schools in Clinton and graduated in 1968 from Clinton High. She continued her education at Clinton Community College where she became and LVN. She attended Peosta Community College where she earned her Bachelors of Nursing degree as a registered nurse.
Sandy married the love of her life, Aloysius A. McDonald on August 29, 1970 in Clinton, Iowa. They moved to Texas where they had one child, Michael McDonald. They returned to Clinton, Iowa until June 1986. They also found out that Al had only one kidney which was failing. They lived through a kidney transplant and all of the complications that it entailed. Al lived for 11 years following his transplant. Sandy and Mike moved to Texas in 1986. She continued nursing with a home health company and eventually changed employment to Bethania Hospital. The hospital was then purchased by United Regional and she continued employment as a charge nurse of 6 West until she retired in 2011. During her retirement, she loved to travel and visit her kids and grandkids, her family and friends in Iowa and Tennessee, she enjoyed her Broadway shows in Oklahoma City, and she loved going to cattle shows along with her annual snow skiing and beach vacations. She was a Windthorst Food Bank volunteer where she gave many hours of her time, giving to those in need. She was also a very active Catholic Daughter of Court Our Lady of Good Counsel #309 in Wichita Falls. Besides being involved in all the court activities, she chaired the Midwestern State University lunches sponsored by the Catholic Daughters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius; her parents, Thomas and Marian Randall; and one infant child.
Sandra lovingly leaves behind her son, Michael McDonald and wife Amy of Sulphur, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Mason, Andrea, and Avery McDonald of Sulphur. Her brother, Steve Randall, wife Danell, niece Melissa, and nephew Matt of Davenport, Iowa; Sister-in-laws: Imogene Costello of Clarksville, TN; Bob and Mary Baumer of Scotland, TX; Agnes McDonald of Scotland, TX; and Artie and Imelda Hallenbeck of Ft. Worth, TX; and way too many nieces and nephews to count but who loved her dearly.
Sandy was a peacemaker. She was fun and always found the good in everyone. She will be missed by many.
The family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Stained Glass Window Project or The Catholic Daughters at 1504 10th St. Wichita Falls, Texas 76301 or Windthorst Food Bank.
