Donald O. Hanson, age 85, of Eau Claire died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Luther Hospital.

Donald was born on July 7, 1921, to the late Oscar and Ragna (Wold) Hanson in Eau Claire. After graduation from Black River Falls High School, Don proudly served our country in the Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and helped in the liberation of France, Germany and Austria. On January 31, 1948, he married Agnes Almberg at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. During his life he worked at Presto Industries, Cream Station in Black River Falls and for 32 years at Hobbs Supply. He also owned and operated Hanson Pump. Don was a member of the Teamsters Union #662 and active in their retirement club, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 305 and a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Don enjoyed bowling for many years in various Eau Claire leagues. He loved fishing, sitting on the dock at the lake and being with his family. Don will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Agnes (Almberg); sons, Daniel (Carolyn) Hanson of Menomonie, William (Mary) Hanson of Eau Claire and Richard (Deborah) Hanson of Lake Hallie; grandchildren, Jeffery, Kattie Jo, Elizabeth and Abigayl; brothers, Harry (Mary) Hanson of Eau Claire and Earl (Esther) Hanson of Eau Claire; sister, Oscora "Ozzie" Schmidt of Cleghorn; sister-in-law, Geraldine Almberg of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ronald Allen; and brothers-in-law, Harold Schmidt and Edward Almberg.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with Reverend Paul Oppedahl officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home (on Golf Road, one block east of Hwy 93) and also one hour prior to service at church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Evergreen Funeral Home is serving the family.
