Rachel Patterson, age 87, of Wichita Falls, died April 20, 2018.
Her burial will be on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Crestview Cemetery in Wichita Falls, Texas. Her service will be held following the burial at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, with Pastor Cheryl Murry officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A daughter of the late Rayford Holt and Millie Elise (Robinson) McCharen, she was born October 15, 1930, in Harlingen, Texas. She graduated from Megargel High School in 1948 and North Texas State College, Denton, Texas, in 1953. She taught school at Archer City Junior High for 26 years. She married Gene Patterson in 1967.
Rachel loved to quilt and has made sure that all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have a quilt of their own. She and her late husband Gene Patterson loved to travel in their motor home to Colorado every summer. Rachel was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher, member of the Women of Wesley and Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Patterson in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Gene Ray McWhorter in 1966 and by son David Patterson in 1995.
Survivors include daughters: Lynn Morgan and partner Dale Rickson of Clay County, Texas; Lou Timms and husband Timmy of Austin, Texas; Kathy Burg and husband Jim of Katy, Texas; and Karin Murphy and husband Ray of Dallas, Texas; seven grandsons, their spouses and children: Carl, Crystal, Luke and Liam Morgan; Zack McGee; Will, Christina and Eleanor McGee; Matt, Kim, Thomas and Emmett McGee; Brian Burg; Kevin, Rebekah, Olivia, Judah, Fletcher and Theo Patterson; Steven, Rachel, Ellie, Abbie and Grace Patterson. She is also survived by her sister, Emma McShan of Iowa Park, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27th at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
