One of the victims, 21-year-old DeEbony Groves, was a senior Sociology major at Belmont University. Groves was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

She was out with her sorority sisters before going to the Waffle House.

"It breaks my heart for her family, the people who love and care about her," said Belmont junior Riley Kellum.

At Belmont University, there were words of shock and disbelief. But a fellow student who did not know DeEbony said she was not surprised by another mass shooting.

"Honestly, it's sad that I was not shocked that something like this happened because of just the way the world has been."

One of the sorority sisters with DeEbony was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition.

Bishop Joseph Walker is planning to hold a vigil for DeEbony at Belmont Monday evening.

A Metro Nashville Council Member knows family members, but they were thinking of the ones lost.

"They understand so their prayers are with those who did not come out, who did not make it," said Antoinette Lee.

A second victim, 23-year-old Akilah Dasilva, was talented behind the camera. Friends remember him as a talented photographer/videographer with a heart of gold.

He was critically wounded inside the restaurant and later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Michael Fletcher, a longtime friend of DaSilva's since 7th grade, said Akilah was selfless.

"He even left his family's Christmas Eve Party to shoot a surprise engagement video for me to propose to my fiancรฉ. The things he did for us was unimaginable," said Fletcher.

Kareem Dasilva remembered his cousin after his life was cut short.

"It was me, Hadari, and Akilah we were all cousins around the same age. I am the youngest while Akilah is the oldest. We have such a similar past and experience, to see his life be taken away so suddenly is so shocking. Akilah is just like me and had the same opportunity that I have. It makes me really sad that he died this way. I love you Akilah," said Kareem Dasilva.

Fletcher said he wants to see change happen after another tragedy.

"Everyone wants change but will not do anything to make the change happen. And because of that, I lost my brother," said Fletcher.

Twenty-year-old Joe Perez of Nashville and 29-year-old Taurean C. Sanderlin of Goodlettesville were also killed during the shooting.

Twenty-one-year-old Shanita Waggoner and 24-year-old Sharita Henderson were both injured in the shooting. They are currently in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
