Robert served as a Sargent in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked most of his life as a die setter, but he spent his free time fishing, hunting, flower gardening, woodworking, and farming.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois, his children: Lois (Don Moon) Quainton, Robin Furgala, Mitchell (Mona) Donley, and Russell (Linda) Donley; his grandchildren: Christopher (Christine) Gray, Donna (Steve) Jones, James (Rose) Gray II, Ted (Angela) Furgala II, Elisabeth (Tom) Yeider, Katherine Furgala, Joshua Donley, Robert Donley, Thomas Donley, and Joseph (Alberta) Donley; eighteen Great-grandchildren; and two Great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and a grandchild, Melissa.
Services celebrating Roberts life were held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Vickers Leslie Funeral Home, Leslie, MI, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Aurelius Township.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Washington, D.C.
