Mrs. Schwarting died of cancer Sunday, May 17, 1981, at the Marengo Memorial hospital where she had been hospitalized for five weeks. She had been ill for eight months.
Mrs. Orlen Glandorf, Mrs. Eldon Wetjen and Mrs. Richard Newkirk cared for flowers.
Organist Mrs. Gaylen Burow sang “How Great Thou Art” and accompanied the congregation in singing “I’m But a Stranger Here” and “Jesus, Lead Thou On.”
Pallbearers were Lloyd Brockshus, Ralph and Tom Heitshusen, Richard Newkirk, and John and Rick Schwarting.
Other pallbearers were Harvey Maas, Eldon Wetjen, Orlen Glandorf, Gilbert Von Ahsen, Milford Schwarting and Henry Bendorf. Burial was in the Immanuel church cemetery.
Mrs. Schwarting was born January 14, 1916, in York township, the daughter of Henry and Bertha Loeskann Brockshus.
She attended the Immanuel Lutheran School.
On January 15, 1939, she married Orville Schwarting at the Immanuel Lutheran church.
Mrs. Schwarting was a farm wife and also was employed at the Amana Holiday Inn for a number of years.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Richard Schwarting, Williamsburg; one daughter Carolyn (Mrs. Ted) Moennich, Homestead; three grandchildren, Steven, Carla and Douglas Schwarting.
She is also survived by five sisters, Gezina (Mrs. Henry) Baack, Marengo; Anna (Mrs. Ernest) Baack, Amana; Lillie (Mrs. Ernest) Newkirk, Martha (Mrs. Eugene) Zuber, both Williamsburg; and Elesa (Mrs. William) Heitshusen, South Amana; four brothers, Carl, Alfred and Arnold Brockshus, all Williamsburg; and Paul Brockshus, Homestead.
Mrs. Schwarting was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Bertha Brockshus, and two brothers Henry jr., and John Brockshus.
