Age 83, passed away on January 28, 2018. He was born on January 15, 1935 in Manchester, TN, the son of the late Walter Martin and Lila McCormick. When he was young, his family moved to Michigan. On January 11, 1956, he enlisted in the Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne, stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. After being honorably discharged he in 1962, he met and married Patricia Gates Martin. They were united in marriage for 58 years. Marty was a hard worker and retired from Jackson Iron and Metal where he worked as a crane operator and semi driver. When not working he enjoyed hunting and fishing, water skiing, motorcycles, playing golf and camping. He and Patricia spent 18 years wintering in Florida where they made many friends. He was also preceded in passing by a brother, Kenneth Martin; sister, Judy Dourghty; half-brother, Mike Gurnsey; step-son, Mark Gates. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; four half-sisters, Dana Martin, Sandy (Marion) Petty, Patty (Dave) Klaas, Debbie Spears; two half-brothers, Bruce and James Martin; two step-sons, Joseph (Olivia) Gates, Mike (Ginger) Gates; many nieces, nephews and friends
