BAKER, Velma Ashworth— Age 91. Mrs. Baker transitioned peacefully and went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on July 18, 2004.

Preceded in death by husband, Grady Olben Baker; sons, James Calvin Baker and George Robert Baker; parents, James Chelsey Baker and Rev. Rotelia Coleman Ashworth; sisters, Bonnie Estes, Hurl Robertson and twin brother, Elmer Ashworth.

She is survived by her children, Darrell Wayne Baker, New York Actor, Rev. William Glenn Baker, Gospel singer/songwriter of Pheonix AZ, Cheri Lynn Baker-Cleveland and Rilla Jean Baker-Menchaca of Nashville and Alda Meryl Baker-Pruett of Smithville, AL; also 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Baker was a former member of McClurkin Memorial Church of the Nazarine in West Nashville and First United Pentecostal Church of West Nashville.

She is presently a member of Hendersonville Pentecostal Church on Rockland Road in Hendersonville, TN.

She loved to teach her Sunday School Class and to write poetry and song lyrics, she also was a proud member of The Daughters of The American Revolution and earned the honor of being the Valedictorian of her high school class.

Services for Mrs. Baker will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Hendersonville Pentecostal Church, at 151 Rockland Road in Hendersonville, TN, with the Pastor Roger Thaxton officiating.

Interment will follow the services at Wilson County Memorial Park, 618 South Maple Street, Lebanon, TN 37087.
