He was born June 17, 1963, in El Campo, Texas, to Harold and Lucy Melton Graves and grew up in Vanderbilt, Texas.
After graduating from Industrial High School in Vanderbilt, Texas in 1981, he worked in Houston for Dresser, Inc. in the Atlas Oilfield Division. He moved to Upper Saddle River, New Jersey in 1986, where he lived and worked for several years. After moving back to Texas, he lived with his parents in Rockdale and was the owner of Graves Painting. Despite ongoing health issues of his own, he helped care for his parents, both of whom preceded him in death.
Harold is survived by his German Shepherd, Gera, who provided him with loyal companionship for the past 15 years; as well as several cousins.
