Ron enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn with his John Deere tractor, fishing and collecting lighthouses. He was a big Dale Earnhardt Nascar and Cleveland Indians Fan. In his spare time he loved watching The Price Is Right, Columbo and Matlock. He and his wife also enjoyed taking cruises.
Ron will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 27 years, whom he called "Cupcake", Ila Rose; stepchildren, Charles Kurt (Linda) Degner, Craig Harold Degner and Laura Ruth Degner; his children, Karen (Tony) Flannery, Denise Beaty, and Sadonna (Gerald) Rogers; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his brothers, John (Roseann) Schroeder and Richard (Martha) Schroeder; sister, Janice Muncie; brother-in-law, Jim Twilliger; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Bruce Duncan Degner; son, Steven Edward Schroeder; brother, Charles Schroeder; sister, Betty Schroeder and sister-in-law, Diane Twilliger.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 24th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor George Shaver officiating. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
