Donald A. Hazle July 5, 1946 April 18, 2018 Donald A. Hazle, 71, of 250 Cherrywood Way, Port Matilda, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2018, during surgery at UPMC Pittsburgh. He was born July 5, 1946, in New York City, the son of Duane and Mozelle (Dickenson) Hazle. On December 26, 1972, he married Sharon A. Snavely at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville, Ohio, whom he met while attending Ohio State University. He is survived by his wife; daughter Stephanie and husband Chad Penn, of Westpoint, Ind.; son Kevin, of Atlanta, Ga.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Brian. He was active in the formation and construction of the Halfmoon Christian Fellowship Church. He was active in Calvary Church and most recently Grace Hills Church in State College. He was a member of the Patton Township Lions Club, a longtime member of the Warriors Mark-Franklin Volunteer Fire Company, Halfmoon Valley Grange, and Sight Loss Support Group of State College. He had helped with the M.S. 150 Bike Ride for over 15 years marking routes and coordinating rest stops. He was very active with family, friends and in the community. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He attained his Masters Degree in Geography from Penn State University. He was retired from the Penn State University Health and Human Development Department. He then continued his passion of working with the blind and visually impaired. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 11:00 at the Halfmoon Christian Fellowship Church, Stormstown, with Victor King officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 4-7 and on Monday, April 23, 2018, from 10:00 until the time of services at 11:00. Interment to follow at Grays Cemetery.
