Jack N. Simmons age 84 of Longview, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Longview. He was born on October 4, 1933 in the Simmons Community in Harrison County, Texas to Kity and Willam Simmons.

Jack was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview where he was actively involved for many years. He retired from Lone Star Steel after 42 years as the Project Coordinator of Plant Engineering. When Jack was able he enjoyed deer hunting and reloading rounds. He also enjoyed making home movies with his 8mm camera, and taking photos and they were always a big hit. Jack would always be at family events shooting movies. He traveled the world with his wife of 54 years Bobbie Ruth Simmons. Together they had countless adventures driving their RV across the US and traveling to Hawaii, Australia, Italy and the Mediterranean Coast.

Survivors are his son Phil Simmons, sister Nell Barton, niece Kay Barton, nephew Don Barton, and nephew Freeman Zausner, three sisters-in-law Charlene Creamer, Gail Morris, and Norma Rich and husband Buddy, and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.

Preceding him in death are his wife Bobbie Ruth Simmons, both parents, four siblings Archie Simmons, Pauline Zausner, Clevie Simmons, and Mary Younger.

Funeral services will be held in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be held at Smyrna Cemetery in Harleton with Greg Creamer, Lee Creamer, Wayne Rich, Larry Sharp, Ben Cooner, and Freeman Zausner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Electrical Workers at Lone Star Steel.
