Ed was a compassionate and thoughtful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who loved helping others, being in the sunshine, and travelling. He was known for his quick wit and corny jokes that he always had on hand. He made lifelong friends easily and always strived to preserve and nurture these relationships. Ed was a strong man of faith and held a deep connection with God; he grew up in the church and was currently a member at Mt. Horeb UMC. He was a graduate of Marshall University earning his Bachelors and Masters degrees and of West Virginia University earning his EdD. Ed's engaging career in Financial Aid Administration spanned almost 45 years working in higher education in NC, WV, MD and OH before working at the University of South Carolina as Director of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships; retiring on December 31, 2014. He continued to work as a consultant to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships until December 31, 2017. Ed held a strong passion for helping students and their families and loved the vibrancy of working on college campuses.
